Carpet / 2003
Materials: Wool in 12 colours
Dimensions: 1.35 m by 1.82m
In order to escape the widely used fashion high-gloss photography format, Marloes ten Bhömer commissioned DESSO to produce a carpet depicting a photograph of the “Carbonfibreshoe”. The image has been divided into a certain amount of pixels that match the amount of woollen yarn strands that make up the carpet. A machine shoots the yarns into a perforated metal plate, after which these are trimmed, a backing applied and the carpet removed from the plate.
